Project
Info
Equipment use in Future: Software - I would
love to have students be able to access certain software via
a course web site - for example, use TurboTax to complete a class-assigned
tax return or access Quicken to develop a budget as part of a
case assignment. Obviously, I would need to explore licensing
issues.
Start Date: 11-15-2002
End Date: 11-15-2003
Milestones/Deadlines: Would submit
one-page mid-project progress report at 5-15-2003.
Deliverables
Angel
Course: Expected outcome is a technologically superior
course presentation that enhances the educational experience of
the students. Finished project would then be readily adaptable
to a distance learning course incorporating Angel.Change
in Practice: Multimedia PowerPoint presentation
and course web site.Paper/Article: I
would not expect to complete an article for publication
during the time frame of this project, but I can envision
a future article on using technology to teach Personal
Financial Planning at the college level. The appropriate
journal for such a submission would be the Financial
Services Review - The Journal of Individual Financial
Management, published by the Academy of Financial Services.
This journal is supported by Georgia State University
and includes articles related to the educational aspects
of personal financial planning.

Primary Objective
Primary
objective is to develop a more technologically advanced presentation
of my current course in Personal Financial Planning (FIN 311).
The course would be enhanced to include a multi-media PowerPoint
presentation for all course material, combined with a course
web site, providing additional course resources and relevant
links.I chose this course since it is a popular course
that runs each semester and appeals to all business majors,
as well as non-business majors. Additionally, it is the
type of course that would lend itself to a technologically-based
presentation with enormous available resources (including
video clips, web site links, software, information sources,
etc.).Upon completion of this project, this course will also
be a great candidate for a distance-learning course (presumably
through the SCE).This course shares some commonality
with my courses in Investments (FIN 200 and FIN 317)
and I expect that lessons learned in completion of this
project would be readily transferable to those courses,
as well.
Assessment
Plan
1. Completion
of project, including multimedia PowerPoint
presentation and web site development.
2. Subsequent course evaluations
each semester to assess student feedback.
