Using Camtasia to Supplement your Instruction

So much of online instruction is text-based -- as in bullets. Spice up your presentation with video web-site tours and video-based instructional materials to make your point. Want to find out more about this computer-screen video-capture program?

Welcome to the Camtasia Video Help section of Providence College's Instructional Technology Development Program web site. Here you'll find a collection of video tutorial files developed by both TechSmith.com (the creators of Camtasia) and by the ITDP here at Providence College; these Flash-based videos will assist in getting you up and running with your computer screen captures.

The majority of the files linked to this page are Flash files; compared to other types of video or animation files, these tend to be small in size. Thus, they should run fine on the PC network ar at home via cable modem access.

If you are relying on telephone dial-up, you will probably find that they run very slowly.

To play the videos, you'll need the most recent version of the Flash player. The player is free and, once installed, automatically plugs into Microsoft Explorer and Netscape. Chances are, you already have this plugin installed on your machine.

If you do get an error message when attempting to play the tutorial, you'll need to get the player, available on this page at Macromedia.com. It's free and only takes about 30 seconds to install; you'll only need to do this once. Here's how you do the installation...
