Description

There will be two examinations in this course, one mid-semester examination and one comprehensive final examination. Both draw heavily from the reading in the course, but the major fifty-point final examination question is provided at the beginning of the course.

Examinations may contain multiple choice, short answer, essay questions, and short case analyses. Questions will be based primarily on the reading assignments. Significant examination points will be based on the self-study assignments in the Knechel text (for which answers will be provided in Angel) and the recommended Gleim CPA Auditing text. My choices for examination questions will be based on course reading assignments in the text, GAAS, Angel required readings, class discussion of cases and the authoritative material related to the cases (but not specific case details), re-cap lectures by the professor, and current events as reported in the Wall Street Journal.

If you conscientiously do the assigned reading and self-study assignments in conjunction with preparing your case analyses, and you actively attend class, you will be sufficiently prepared for the examinations with modest review. If you fall behind in the reading you will find the exams difficult.

The mid-term examination will be held on two days and have two parts, the first part you will take in a group after 45 minutes of response drafting as an individual, the second part you will take only as an individual on the second mid-term examination day. The individual examination score will be 75% of your mid-term examination grade and the group examination score will be 25% of your mid-term examination grade. Group assignments will be provided on mid-term examination day one. Groups will be randomly assigned by the professor whose selections are final and binding. You must take your exam in the correct section of the course! At the conclusion of your group's effort on day one, you will have the option to select 100% of your individual grade from your initial response drafting (e.g., if you believe the group score will lower your individual score); your choice will be binding.

The final examination will have only one individual score.

Questions about the content of examinations may only be asked of me in regular class sessions when all of your classmates are present to hear my response. I will not answer questions privately or via e-mail.
