PC's Instructional Technology Development Program

The Instructional Technology Development Program (ITDP) exists to support experienced and inexperienced Providence College faculty, across all disciplines, in their efforts to independently incorporate instructional technologies into coursework in order to improve student learning. We provide the following services: individual consulting, group workshops, and the provision of online training and support materials.

Welcome to Providence College

Spring 2008 Workshops

ITDP & CTE team up to offer two workshops in April.

The Wonderful, Wild World of Wikis

Tuesday, April 1
4:00 to 5:30 pm

Imagine your students working together on a project that turns the traditional term paper on its head. It’s possible with a wiki, a website where your students contribute writing, images, movies, music and links, and peer edit their classmates’ work, all without technical web skills.

Join three of your colleagues as they share how they used wikis in their classes, including what worked, what didn’t work, how to craft a good wiki assignment, and a discussion on the perceptions of students to the online format. There will also be brief introduction to wikis.

Speakers
Maia Bailey, Biology
Bob Hackey, Health Policy & Management
Bob Trudeau, Political Science
Siobhán Ross, Instructional Technology Development Program

Location: CTE, Feinstein 300

Effective PowerPoint: Dos & Don'ts

Thursday, April 17
2:30 to 4:00 pm

Take your PowerPoints to the next level in this hands-on session. We will learn how to make your bullets appear one-by-one, dim into the background, or stand out; use the drawing tools to emphasize a section of an image; and make a picture crawl across the screen.

Limited to faculty only.
Location: Feinstein 205

Register in advance by calling Siobhán at ext. 1832.
